The wonderful new St Johns square is very close to the RBL Club

An assembly is always held on 11th November to commemorate Armistice day at Blackpool's newly renovated Cenotaph adjacent to North Pier.
Blackpool is now acknowledged to be one of the most important ex-service centres in the country.
The 'Poppython' is the biggest event held in the Club over the year. It is held every year in the third week of October, with all profits going to the RBL Poppy Appeal.
This years 'Poppython' was held on 22nd October. As usual a galaxy of Stars generously gave up their time in aid of the Poppy Appeal. Amongst those appearing were Sid Little, Johnny Casson, Sue Denning, Jimmy Nairn, Extraordinary Gentlemen, Paul Morgan and the Showcase Dancers, Don Taylor, Frankie Whittle and Ray Willetts.
Ian Coleman said that all the acts had been outstanding and he paid a special tribute to 'The Extraordinary Gentlemen' duo, who had driven over from Middlesbrough especially for the show and had to be back at Middlesbrough at 3 pm for another gig! During the auction intervals of the show Ian had auctioned a one farthing coin (value pre-decimilisation 1/960th of a pound) This raised £105, equalling 100,800 it's face value. Mr Coleman wondered if this is a record!

A special evening was held to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the British Legion. Many entertainers performed to a full audience of club members and visitors, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Blackpool, councillor and Mrs Alan Matthews. The evening was arranged by the Social Committee and the show was compared by Tom Bugler. Certificates of appreciation were presented by the President to Alex Monroe, Ray Wilson - who also received a certificate awarded to the late Maureen Wilson - and Terry Webster and Martin Biggins.
The RBL Club takes a leading part in celebrating Armed Forces Day in Blackpool every June.
Remembrance Sunday every year brings many of the participants in the parade into the Club after the events on the Promenade.
The Pensioners Party every December is organised by the ladies of the Women's Section, who hold regular meetings in the Club.
